Michael Kleinman

Mr. Kleinman has extensive experience working in various conflict and post-conflict situations. From 2004 to 2007 he worked for CARE, first as the organization’s Advocacy Advisor in Afghanistan, then covering Sudan, and finally as CARE's Regional Advocacy Advisor for East and Central Africa, with a particular focus on conflicts in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Sudan, and Somalia. He left the CARE in early 2007 to take a position with International Relief & Development in Iraq, where he spent six months helping manage a USAID-funded employment generational program in Ninewah Province, Iraq. Prior to going overseas, Mr. Kleinman worked for the Program on Humanitarian Policy and Conflict Research at the Harvard School of Public Health, providing assistance to the United Nations on the application of International Humanitarian Law to the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict. Mr. Kleinman graduated from Yale University and Harvard Law School. He currently consults for humanitarian agencies.
